The Dream

"This was a super fragmented dream but I came to in a dream where I thought I had killed someone by strangling. As I was putting her on a table, it almost seemed like a medical exam table. A man came in that I was very attracted to, and we started to become intimate. As I moved through the dream it was clear I was in a relationship with this man, he was older (I was a student of his and he was a teacher) but not by much. Our position made it feel like there was a bigger age gap than there actually was. I remember doing speech demos, and I was one of the best in the group. We had to walk the class through an experience, a masterclass, and I was voted as one of the best presenters. At one point I came face to face with my fiance, I knew of him but we were not together in the dream. He started asking me questions and I remember feeling so terrible for my actions - for falling for an unavailable man (he was married and had a child) for not being available for the relationship with my fiance to fully unfold. I remember seeing a lot of my high school classmates, we were going on a field trip and I remember feeling like I was in the spot light but deeply unseen in what I was moving through. "

Dream Summary

You dreamed of killing a woman, then becoming intimate with an unavailable teacher while being one of the best presenters. You faced your fiancé, feeling guilt for choosing an impossible relationship over a real one. High school classmates watched, unseen.

✨ Dream Analysis ✨

The woman you strangled and laid on the exam table—that's the version of yourself you're trying to silence. The act of killing isn't literal; it's the psychic violence of suppressing something vital in yourself to fit a role. The medical table says this was meant to be examined, healed, known. Instead, you covered it with intimacy.

The teacher you're attracted to—married, with a child, your superior—isn't about a real person. He's the pattern of wanting what can't fully want you back. This isn't the first time your dreams have circled relationships built on imbalance. Your psyche is showing you the architecture of your desire: you're drawn to situations where you must perform, prove yourself, earn affection through excellence. The speech demos, being voted best presenter, the spotlight—you're brilliant at being seen but not known. That's the gap. You're the star student of your own unavailability.

When your fiancé appeared and you felt terrible, that guilt is honest. You recognized him only by name—the commitment you've made exists in title, not yet in full presence. The dream isn't saying you chose wrong. It's showing you that part of you is still invested in the teacher dynamic: the chase, the impossibility, the need to earn love through achievement rather than receive it.

Your high school classmates on the field trip—they're the audience from your past, the part of you still performing for old judges. You felt in the spotlight but deeply unseen. That's the core wound: you're visible in your competence, invisible in your struggle.

The anger → shame → love emotional arc tells the story. You start furious enough to kill (the part of yourself you reject). Then ashamed (of wanting the wrong thing, of not being enough). Then seeking connection (with the teacher, with approval). The love you felt wasn't real intimacy—it was the relief of being chosen by someone impossible.

What Your Subconscious May Be Telling You

  • You're in a relationship pattern where you chase unavailability because it's safer than being truly seen
  • Your excellence at performing (speech demos, being "one of the best") is a shield against letting anyone witness your struggle
  • The guilt you felt toward your fiancé is your psyche's honest signal: you're not fully present in this commitment yet
  • The killing at the start is you trying to silence the part of yourself that wants what it wants—and she won't stay dead

A Message from Your Dream

I am the woman you strangled. I'm still breathing. You put me on the table thinking you could examine me into submission, but I'm the part of you that refuses to be good, that wants without permission, that won't perform for approval. You can't kill me off to make yourself acceptable. I'm not your shame. I'm your hunger. And I'm not going anywhere.

Reflection Questions

  • What would it mean to let your fiancé see the part of you that killed that woman—the messy, wanting, unfinished part?
  • Where in your waking life are you performing excellence to avoid being truly known?
  • If the teacher represents a pattern, not a person—what would it cost you to stop pursuing unavailable connections?

Suggested Actions

  • This week, tell your fiancé one thing you're ashamed of wanting—not to fix it, just to let him see it
  • Journal: "The part of me I tried to kill is..." and write for 10 minutes without stopping
