The Dream
"In this dream, I was asked to do a demo As part of a wellness co op event. I arrived and noticed I was wearing the wrong clothes - there was a closet there and I was able to make do with some items in there. As I was changing I noticed I was very bruised and beat up but I don’t remember when or how it happened. As I started moving through further preparing for the event, I noticed it was very unorganized and I got lashed out at for not having a sign up sheet. As I started the demo, I felt very feverish and unwell. There was a man that was serving as the host who tried introducing me, yet I had already started the demo and was going to get volunteers by raising of hands instead of by sign up sheet. I had a couple individuals show Interest and then he turned a tv on - it played a movie, similar to Harry Potter. And I remember going into like a sleepy trance - I watched people start to get up and walk away from The demo area. It wasn’t until The area almost completely cleared that I realized my Time was up and I came to and snapped out of the trance. I was angry and humiliated, and I so Wanted to ruin the rest of the event for everyone else for the lack of consideration and support I felt. As I reflect I believe I only experienced those emotions internally but did not act on them. Another dear friend ended up arriving to do a class, and I began confiding with her. She also had had an unsuccessful history with the lady that had set up the event. "
✨ Dream Analysis ✨
You showed up to offer something of yourself—a demo, a contribution—and found yourself already wounded, already in the wrong costume for the role you were supposed to play. Those bruises you don't remember getting? They're the accumulated impact of working with someone whose structure and energy leave marks on you. You've been telling yourself you're fine, but your body knows otherwise.
The closet where you found replacement clothes is significant. You're trying to make do with what's available rather than bringing your own authentic self and your own materials. You're adapting to a system that wasn't built for you, and it costs you.
The man who hosted but failed to support you—he's not an enemy, but he's not an ally either. He's the person who lets things happen without taking responsibility for the container. His TV playing a movie that pulled you into a trance is the most revealing moment of the dream. You didn't just lose your audience—you lost yourself. The trance represents dissociation: a part of you checked out because the situation was too painful to fully inhabit. This isn't weakness. It's your psyche protecting you from a humiliation that felt unsurvivable in the moment.
Your anger afterward—the desire to ruin the rest of the event—is the part of you that knows you deserved better and is furious that you didn't demand it. That you kept it internal is both a strength and a limitation. You held your boundaries by not acting out, but you also silenced yourself.
That your friend arrived and confirmed your experience is the dream's resolution. It's not a happy ending; it's a true one. Your subconscious is saying: You're not crazy. This pattern is real. And you've already made the right call about not working with this woman moving forward.
The fear and confusion you started with, the anger and disgust you ended with—this is the emotional arc of someone who trusted a system and was let down. The dream validates your decision. Now the question isn't whether you were right to step back. The question is what you'll do with the energy that anger wants to spend.
What Your Subconscious May Be Telling You
- You've been showing up to something that isn't structured to support you, and your body is registering the cost before your mind will admit it
- The trance you fell into is a signal: when you lose your sense of agency, you also lose your presence and your power
- The friend's arrival and shared history confirms that this isn't about your competence—it's about the container you're working within
- Your anger, held internally, is a boundary waiting to be spoken, not acted out
A Message from Your Dream
I am the bruises you don't remember getting. I am the evidence you've been carrying without looking down. You didn't fail that demo—you showed up to a stage that was already collapsing, and you're surprised you're injured. I'm not here to shame you. I'm here to show you what you've been pretending not to feel.
Reflection Questions
- What would it look like to bring your own clothes, your own sign-up sheet, your own structure—instead of adapting to someone else's broken system?
- Where else in your life are you showing up bruised, pretending you don't know how it happened?
- What would you need to say aloud to the woman in charge—not to punish her, but to reclaim your voice?
Suggested Actions
- Write down the story of that demo from start to finish, including how you felt at each moment. Burn it or save it—but get it out of your body and onto paper.
- Before your next professional commitment, ask yourself: "Am I bringing my own materials, or am I hoping to find something in someone else's closet?"
This Dream Is Asking You To
Stop adapting to broken structures and start building your own container before you offer your gifts again.
Dream Archetype
Jungian Pattern Analysis
The dreamer feels constrained by the event's rules (sign-up sheet, host's control) and internally rebels by starting the demo without the host's introduction, then later feels anger and a desire to ruin the event. The trance-like state and the host's TV distraction suggest a struggle against imposed order, aligning with the Rebel archetype's theme of disruption and liberation.
